Living tree leaf blocks do not drop anything when broken but they can be placed at the cost of 1 wood with the leaf wand. Straw blocks work great for a thatched roof look. They resemble asian style roofing. Mahogany and shadewood generally call for very different shapes.

A small house might only need a one or two tile thick roof with a short overhang. Certain types of stone and brick blocks may look better with a castle kind of shape but not always. Alternatively by adding a 1 block high parapet and a 1 block wide walkway around the roof it is reduced to an apparent height of 7 blocks which falls roughly within the rule of thumb for roof heights. Original poster 1 point 6 years ago. They cannot be crafted into any walls. Just go for two or more materials that contrast each other. Blocks that are only crafted from a type of platform or wall are not included.

For some buildings a spectacular roof is part of the design. The red and blue types are identical except for their color. They make up nearly all of the game s terrain with the preponderance of a particular block type in an area determining its biome. Living tree living wood will turn into regular wood when broken however that wood can be placed as living wood with the living wood wand.
